Walt Disney World Orlando

Your Disney vacation is booked. You have a flight and hotel lined up. You've researched top Orlando destinations, created a vacation itinerary and purchased tickets. But have you considered how you'll get from the airport to your hotel? It's a question many travelers don't consider until it's too late. And there's a serious lack of simple, affordable and convenient transportation options to get you from the airport to your hotel.

Compare real prices from Orlando’s shuttle, car and limo providers.

The Walt Disney World Resort area is located 30 to 45 minutes away from the airport – in moderate traffic. Before you arrive, you want to have a transportation plan in place. We can help – check out the various transportation options below.

Transportation Options

Shared-Ride Shuttle: Though cheap shuttles or a shared-ride shuttle may seem like the most cost-effective solution, this form of transportation may not be ideal for people who are in a hurry. With a shared-ride shuttle, you are at the mercy of other passengers, their flight itineraries and their personal schedules. You'll also have to stop along the way at multiple hotels and wait as passengers de-board and collect luggage. If you're using a shared-ride shuttle, it may take an hour or two to get to your hotel. The shuttle company also requires a return pickup time of a minimum 2 hours and 45 minutes prior to your flight (or 3 hours and 45 minutes before international flights).

NOTE that Walt Disney World in Florida discontinued their Disney's Magical Express bus service at the end of 2021.

Whether you are staying at a Disney branded resort or at another resort located on the Disneyworld property that is not owned by Disney, then you will need to arrange for your own transportation to and from the airport. These non-Disney resorts include the Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel, the Walt Disney World Swan Hotel, The Walt Disney World Swan Reserve, Shades of Green, B Resort and Spa, Best Western Lake Buena Vista, DoubleTree Suites Hotel Lake Buena Vista, Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista, Buena Vista Palace Hotel & Spa, Holiday Inn Lake Buena Vista Downtown, and the Wyndham Lake Buena Vista Resort.

Uber/Lyft: People forget that these shared-ride services charge surge pricing whenever there is high demand. With a reported 65 Million visitors to Orlando annually, that equates to an average of over 178,000 people arriving in Orlando every single day! And if you've ever been in the Orlando airport, then you know what I'm talking about! Base rates for these services can sometimes look appealing, but good luck with that. Plus there's the extra wait time while you're hoping for a driver to become available.

Taxi: There are two taxi lines at the Orlando airport. The lines are typically very long, and the cost for a taxi from the Orlando airport to the Disney World Area can be as much as $130 one-way PLUS tolls and wait times which are not included in the quote (and that's not including tip).

Private Car Service/Limo Service: Surprisingly, the best deals in Orlando transportation to Disney can be found by booking a private car and driver — if you know where to look. Plus, it's generally the most comfortable and efficient way to travel. You'll have the entire vehicle just for your family or group, so you're not at the mercy of other customers and you can book a car that best fits you and your family's needs.

How can I get my family to the Disney Theme Parks from our Universal area resort?

It's easy! Go to this free quote page and enter your hotel name in the first box and the Disney Park of your choice in the box next to it. You'll get quotes from local transportation companies, including private transportation choices where you get to pick your own travel times!

How far is Walt Disney World from Orlando International Airport?

The Walt Disney World Resort area sits 30 to 45 minutes from MCO in moderate traffic. Book the transfer against your flight’s arrival time rather than your check-in time — the gap between landing and clearing baggage claim is where most Disney arrival plans come unstuck.

How much is a taxi from Orlando airport to Disney World?

A taxi from MCO to the Disney World area can run as much as $130 one way, and that figure excludes tolls, wait time and any tip. There are two taxi ranks at the airport and the queues are typically very long. Booking a private car in advance is frequently cheaper than the metered fare once the extras are counted.

What replaced Disney’s Magical Express?

Nothing free replaced it. Disney discontinued the Magical Express bus at the end of 2021, and every guest now arranges their own airport transport — a shared-ride shuttle, a private car or limo booked ahead, a ride app at surge pricing, or a taxi.
