You might expect that at one of the busiest airports in the United States, it would be easy to find an airport shuttle; Orlando, however, is not known for its ground transportation options. There are "out of town" shuttles that operate at the airport, but they're forbidden from taking anyone to the Lake Buena Vista area – and that's kind of a problem, since that's where Disney World is! Disney's Magical Express, a motor coach that provided free transportation from the airport, was done away with at the end of 2021.

Does MCO have its own shuttle services?

The airport itself doesn't offer shuttle service, but many hotels near the airport offer shuttles to and from the terminal. But – assuming you're on vacation and are staying at an airport hotel (not likely) – you'd still have to find a way to get from your hotel to the theme park, or wherever you're going. And an airport hotel shuttle is not going to take you that far.

What is the difference between a shared-ride and a private shuttle?

A shared-ride shuttle carries passengers traveling to different hotels, so it stops more than once before it reaches yours. A private shuttle is reserved for your party alone and goes straight to your destination. Comparing the two side by side is worth doing – for smaller parties the private option is sometimes the cheaper of the two.

Is there still a free shuttle from Orlando airport to Disney World?

No. Disney's Magical Express, the motor coach that carried Walt Disney World guests between the airport and their resort at no charge, was discontinued at the end of 2021. Guests at both Disney-owned and non-Disney resorts on the property now arrange their own transport.

How early does an Orlando shuttle pick up for a return flight?

Shared-ride shuttle companies require a return pickup at least 2 hours 45 minutes before a domestic departure, and 3 hours 45 minutes before an international one. That is the shuttle’s own requirement rather than an airport rule — a private vehicle is booked for whatever time you choose.

Can I get a child seat in an Orlando shuttle?

Private transportation companies can usually supply child and booster seats when you ask in advance, and most do not charge for them. Shared-ride shuttles do not carry them, so a private vehicle is the option to compare if you are traveling with young children.
