Port Canaveral Cruise Transportation

Your cruise vacation to the Bahamas or Caribbean is booked. You have a flight and hotel lined up. You've researched top Orlando destinations, created a vacation itinerary and purchased tickets. But have you considered how you'll get from the airport to your hotel? It's a question many travelers don't consider until it's too late. And there's a serious lack of simple, affordable and convenient transportation options to get you from the airport or hotel to your cruise.

The Port Canaveral cruise ship dock is located roughly an hour's drive away from the main MCO Orlando airport – in moderate traffic, and it is just a little bit farther from Sanford Orlando Airport, located northeast of the city. Before you arrive, you want to have a transportation plan in place. We can help – check out the various transportation options below.

Transportation Options

Shared-Ride Shuttle/Bus: Though cheap shuttles or a shared-ride cruise buses may seem like the most cost-effective solution, this option can cost a family or group of any size hundreds of dollars more than a private driver and vehicle. With a shared-ride shuttle, you are also at the mercy of other passengers, their flight itineraries and their personal schedules. The cruise lines make a fortune filling up busloads of passengers all going to the same location and paying a stiff price for each adult and child.

Taxi: The cost for a taxi from any Disney World, SeaWorld or Universal Area hotel is by far the most expensive option of any transportation alternative (and their quotes don't include tolls along the route or the driver's tip).

Private Car Service/Limo Service: Surprisingly, the best deals in Orlando transportation to Cocoa Beach and Port Canaveral can be found by booking a private car and driver — if you know where to look. Plus, it's generally the most comfortable and efficient way to travel. You'll have the entire vehicle just for your family or group, so you're not at the mercy of other customers and you can book a car that best fits you and your family's needs.

Can I get picked up directly from my Orlando hotel?

Yes. Our private cars will meet you outside the lobby and drive you directly to your ship — there's no need to get a ride back to the Orlando Airport first. The companies listed on our site service hotels near Disney, Universal Orlando Resort, SeaWorld, and of course Orlando International Airport.

How long is the drive from Orlando airport to Port Canaveral?

Roughly an hour from MCO in moderate traffic, and a little longer from Sanford, which sits northeast of the city. Port Canaveral is about 50 miles from the airport and about 60 from Walt Disney World, so a pre-cruise night in Orlando still leaves a full transfer on sailing day.

What time should I book a ride to the cruise terminal?

Set the pickup against your ship’s boarding window rather than its sailing time, then add the hour’s drive and a margin for traffic. Give the cruise line and ship name when you book — Port Canaveral handles Disney Cruise Line, Carnival and Royal Caribbean among others, and the driver needs to know which terminal.

Cocoa Beach

Staying at a hotel along Cocoa Beach before your cruise? No problem! Our low round trip rates will get you from the Orlando International Airport to your hotel or resort in Cocoa Beach, Cocoa Florida, Titusville, Cape Canaveral or Merritt Island with returning service direct from your ship at the same low rates you would pay for a round trip to and from your cruise.

Book your shuttle for the morning of your cruise from hotels near the port with the concierge at your hotel. Since our drivers are dispatched from Orlando (in the middle of the state), it is cost-prohibitive for us to provide that short transfer from your nearby resort along the Space Coast to the nearby cruise terminals at Port Canaveral. There are several good services that provide those short shuttle rides, and the cost is minimal or even free in some cases, depending on the hotel you are leaving from.
