Orlando Vacation Destinations
Your Orlando vacation is booked. You have a flight and hotel lined up. You've researched top Orlando destinations, created a vacation itinerary and purchased tickets. But have you considered how you'll get from the airport to your hotel? It's a question many travelers don't consider until it's too late. And there's a serious lack of simple, affordable and convenient transportation options to get you from the airport to your hotel.
The most popular Orlando vacation destinations like Disney World, SeaWorld and Universal Studios are 20 to 30 minutes away from the airport – in moderate traffic. Before you arrive, you want to have a transportation plan in place. We can help – but first, let's look closer at what it takes to arrive to Orlando's top destinations.
Most Popular Attractions
: Walt Disney World is about 17 miles, or 30 minutes, from the Orlando airport. The main highway for this route includes tollbooths and fairly heavy traffic, especially during peak season. While there are alternative routes in some cases, nearly all highways in the Orlando area include tolls.
: The distance between SeaWorld and the Orlando airport is about 13 miles, or 20 minutes, in moderate traffic. Every route includes tollbooths.
Universal Orlando Resort
: The Universal Studios theme park and resorts are 16 miles from Orlando International Airport, a 20-minute drive in moderate traffic. The main highway route and its alternate routes include tollbooths.
Trying to figure out which hotels are the closest to the Universal Orlando parks? We have the complete list right here.
: If you've booked a Disney, Royal Caribbean or Carnival cruise, you'll likely set sail from Port Canaveral. The Orlando airport is 47 miles from Port Canaveral. This journey along a major highway includes tollbooths and could take between 45 minutes to an hour.
LEGOLAND Florida Resort
: The Legoland Florida Theme Park and Hotel is more than 52 miles from Orlando International Airport, more than an hour's drive in moderate traffic. The main highway route and its alternate routes include tollbooths.
Hotel Transfers to Theme Parks
The distances between Disney World, SeaWorld and Universal Studios are about 9 to 12 miles, or about 10 to 15 minutes, one-way. If your hotel is near one of these parks, you're not far away from being able to easily attend all three parks with minimal transportation. But the parks are not within walking distance, so you'll still need a ride. Some hotels offer shuttles only to one park, but not to others. You'll need to check with the hotel to know for sure.
: Though cheap shuttles or a shared-ride shuttle may seem like the most cost-effective solution, this form of transportation may not be ideal for people who are in a hurry. With a shared-ride shuttle, you are at the mercy of other passengers, their flight itineraries and their personal schedules. You'll also have to stop along the way at multiple hotels and wait as passengers de-board and collect luggage. If you're using a shared-ride shuttle, it may take an hour or two to get to your hotel. The shuttle company also requires a return pick-up time of a minimum 2 hours and 45 minutes prior to your flight (or 3 hours and 45 minutes before international flights).
: There are two taxi lines at the Orlando airport. The lines are typically very long, and the cost for a taxi from the Orlando airport to the Disney World, SeaWorld and Universal Area can be as much as $60 one-way (and that's not including tip).
Private Town Car Service/Limo Service
: While the price for a private ride in a town car or limo can vary depending on the company and season, it's generally the most comfortable and efficient way to travel. You'll have the ride to yourself, you're not at the mercy of other customers and you can book a car that best fits you and your family's needs.
